Welcome to Moonlight Roots Botanicals, where my love for herbalism aligns with my family's needs. As a single mom to amazing kids with special needs, crafting small-batch herbal remedies and skincare for my family provides me with peace and fulfillment.
My Story
My name is Melissa. I am a 38 year old single mom to two wonderful kiddos. On top of my own complicated health issues, both of my babies have special needs of their own. My son is autistic and also has ADHD. My daughter has a rare chromosome condition called Inverted Duplication With Deletion on her 8p chromosome. With this all of us have different needs and are sensitive to products on the market. I started making things myself years ago, starting with magnesium lotion for my son and I because we both struggle with sleep issues.

As the years have progressed, I have started making more and more products for us. It was the smarter option for us instead of constantly buying products at the store that didn't work or worse, caused reactions. I have learned and am continue learning more about herbalism and balancing herbal remedies with traditional medicine. It has helped me fill the gaps in areas that healthcare hasn't been able to help us completely.

Make no mistake, herbal medicine is still medicine and should never be used as a replacement for talking to your doctor. There are many herbs out there that can have negative reactions with medications or worsen existing conditions. I am very careful with the herbs I use. I also believe in honesty and transparency when it comes to my ingredients. Terms like Natural and Organic are marketing terms and are often used too loosely. While I do use natural ingredients I also use preservatives or natural derived ingredients where necessary because safety is a top priority for me as well.
